Funeral services were held Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. G. D. Douglas, 84, of Columbia, who died June 11, in Columbia. Interment was in the Emanuel Cemetery. Chaplin Don Amagost officiated at the services. Visitation was held Sunday, June 12, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A native of Jefferson Davis County, he was a retired Millwright and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Douglas; parents, Vernon and Maude Douglas; and sister, Gladys Liner. Survivors include three daughters, Nita Stringer (Leo) of Columbia, Kay Shelton of Hattiesburg and Faye Turnage (Larry) of Foxworth; two brothers, James Alton Douglas of Bay Town, Texas and Chet Douglas of Columbia; eight grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
