Funeral services for John Carroll Magee Sr., 79, were Jan. 23, 1998, at Capps Funeral Home Chapel.... He died Jan. 21, 1998, at Walthall General Hospital. Magee was a mechanic, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Knoxo Baptist Church and a Mason.
He was born Nov. 24, 1918, at Slidell, La., son of the late John and Mattie Ginn Magee. He married Hilan Alford Magee, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Ben L. and Ford Magee; and a sister, Grace Magee.
Survivors include two sons, J.C. Magee Jr., and Sammy Kaye Magee; a daughter and son-in- law, Carolyn M. and Wayne McElveen of Franklinton; two granddaughters, Samantha and Jayne Magee; four grandsons, Marty and Jason McElveen of Franklinton, and Nathaniel and Christopher Holmes; a brother, Billie Magee of Nashville, Tenn. Pallbearers were Alex Alexander, Vernon Alford, Earl Alford, Billy Alford, Jimmy Alford and Mike Magee.
Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Capps Funeral Home in charge.

Hilan Alford Magee, 68, a resident of Tylertown, died April 18, 1991, in Marion County as a result of a car accident.
Visitation will continue until 10 tonight at Capps Funeral Home of Tylertown and will resume Saturday at Salem Baptist Church from noon until services there at 2 p.m.... Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Magee was born March 15, 1923, in Walthall County. She was the daughter of Samuel Nathaniel Alford and Hattie Jane Magee Alford.
She was a retired employee of the Haspel garment factory and a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Magee is survived by her husband, John Carroll Magee Sr. of Tylertown; two sons, Sammy Kaye Magee and J.C. Magee, both of Tylertown; one daughter, Carolyn McElveen of Franklinton, La.; four grandsons, Marty McElveen, Jason McElveen, Nathaniel Magee and Christopher Magee; two granddaughters, Samantha Magee and Jayne Magee; three brothers, Farrol "Preacher" Alford and Sammie E. Alford, both of Tylertown, and Harold Alford of Gonzales, La.; and two sisters, Louise Bacot and Christine Alexander, both of Tylertown.
