Funeral services will be held Sat. April 22, 2017 at 11 am in First Missionary Baptist Church for Augusta Sims Acker, age 89, of Bay St. Louis, MS., who died April 12, 2017 in Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson Parish. Pastor Jenkins will officiate at the service, with burial in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS.
A native of Slidell, LA., she was a retired Private Sitter for Hancock County Sheriff Dept., Nurses Aide at Dixie Whitehead and Miramar Lodge Nursing Home, was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Green of Natchez, MS; 2 sons, Steven Acker of New Orleans, LA., Donald Acker of Bay St. Louis, MS.; 3 sisters, Laura Trueblood, New Orleans, LA., Dona B. Torregano, of Covington LA, and Patricia Faure, Slidell, LA; 2 brothers, Edgar Faure and James Leon Faure, both of Mandeville, LA.; 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alexander Acker Sr.; 2 sons, Alexander Acker Jr. and Lionel Acker; 2 daughters, Augusta Inez Acker Clemons and Rhonda Acker Thigpen; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Tiana Clemons; parents Arthur Faure Sr. and Evella Sims Faure; brothers Arthur Faure Jr., Edward Faure, Ralph Faure, Oliver Faure, Charles Faure and Simmie Faure; and sisters Victoria Faure, Gail Faure, Viola Faure, Jolene Leopold and Ester Mae Landry.
Visitation will be held Sat. April 22, 2017 from 10 am until 11 am in First Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home, Picayune, MS.
