Funeral services were held Friday morning from Dublin Baptist Church for Owen Cole, 70, of Rt. 1, Oakvale, who died Wednesday afternoon at the Jefferson Davis County Hospital following an illness of several weeks. Rev. Lott of the Oakvale Baptist Church officiated and was assisted by Rev. L. C. Anthony and Rev. Sutton Smith. Interment followed in the Dublin Cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home in charge.
Nephews who served as pallbearers were Tommy Lee Jackson, Charles Jackson, Curtis Cranford, Tommy Hunter, Glenis White, and Larue Dyess.
Mr. Cole was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson Davis County where he farmed. He was a member of the Hathron Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace Deen Cole of Rt. 1, Oakvale; two sons, Lavon Cole and Ray Cole both of Rt. 1, Oakvale; two daughters, Mrs. C. B. Langston of Clinton; Mrs. Boyd Long of Petal; 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two brothers, Hugh Cole of Carson; Rome Cole of Prentiss; five sisters, Mrs. Myra Robbins of Carson; Miss Cola Ray Cole of Rt. 1, Oakvale; Mrs. Pete Faler of Slidell, La.; Mrs. Pete Rogers of Columbia; Mrs. Percy Higgs of Silver Creek.
