Funeral services for Earline Hill “Lady Bug” Shorter are Saturday, March 4, at Greater Grove Street M. B. Church at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation is Friday, March 3, in the chapel from 5 to 7 p.m.
She passed away Monday, Feb. 27, at Merit Health River Region following a lengthy illness. She was 91.
She had worked as a private care sitter and was a member of Greater Mount Zion M. B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Mary McMichael Hill; her husband, Oscar Thomas; her son, Oscar Shorter; her sisters, Flora Shorter and Bertha Dart.
She is survived by her two sons, Jake Shorter of Phenix City, Ala., and Lee Arthur Shorter of Vicksburg; her daughters, Joyce Hill of Vicksburg, Ruby Thomas of Edwards, Regina Major of Vicksburg and Felecia Washington of Madison; her sister, Margaret Allen of Vicksburg; 36 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
