Husband of Betty L Rutland Brister
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in the Good Hope Baptist Church for Mr. Billy G. Brister, 80, of Columbia, who died Sunday, March 10 at his residence. Interment will be in the Good Hope Church Cemetery. The Reverends Neil Breland and Denny Patterson officiated at the services. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 at Good Hope Baptist Church.
A native of Marion County, he was an appliance technician, a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hezzie and Eliza Riley Brister; son, Danny Dyess and one grandson, Donovan Gay.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Brister of Columbia; two daughters, Joyce Bullock (Greg) of Seminary and Lorri Hall of Sumrall; one sister, Thelma Johnston of Columbia; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Matthew Hall, Tyler Hall, Kenneth Hardee, Joshua Messer, Kenneth Crawley and Trevor Wigley.
Hathorn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
