Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the Chapel of Colonial Funeral Home for Mr. Vester "J.B." Ramshur Jr., 75, of Columbia, who died Tuesday, April 16 in Columbia. Interment was in the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. J.R. Hartfield officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Marion County, he was a retired diesel mechanic and a member of Temple Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester Ramshur Sr. and Valeria Crout Ramshur and a sister, Joyce Kane.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Wooten Ramshur of Columbia; four daughters, Debbie Pierce (Ken), Cathy Ramshur Seal and Delana Haddox (JimBo), all of Columbia and Jeannie Bennett (the Rev. Stan Bennett) of Perkinston; four sisters, Carol Boudreaux of Pass Christian, Janie Forbes of Sandy Hook, Bonita Swanigan of Mt. Vernon, Ky. and Rachel Hogue of Concord, N.H.; three brothers, Jessie Ramshur of Columbia, Murphy Ramshur of Sumrall and Victor Ramshur of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many other friends and family.
Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
