Born in Albemarle County, Virginia
October 27, 1791
Died at Pass Christian, Mississippi
December 24, 1865
He emigrated in infancy to Kentucky and thenceforth knew no other home, was appointed by President Jackson Judge of the District Court of the U.S. and held the office until 1861. At the outbreak of the Civil War his convictions and sympathies were with the South, and "willing to spend and be spent" for a cause which he believed to be just, he resigned his office and his home and cast his lot with the seceded states. Honored and beloved he departed this life "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."
