Funeral services were held May 25, 2010 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for Aaron Bennett, 64, of Columbia, who died May 23, 2010 at his residence. Interment was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Steele officiated at the service assisted by the Rev. Everette Broome. A native of Marion County, he was a retired school teacher and a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence A. Bennett. Survivors include wife, Reba Powell Bennett of Columbia; mother, Vera Mae Bennett; daughter, Sissy Wilks; two stepdaughters, Dana Prine and Erin Nichols, all of Columbia; two sons, Robbie Bennett of Oloh, Jeremy Bennett of Columbia and stepson Jamie Powell of Seminary; seven grandchildren, Noel, Chase, Gage, Haley, Bennett; Anna and Slade Wilks, Gracie Bennett; step-grandchildren, Christin Nichols and Micah Prine. Pallbearers were Mike Bennett, Jerry Ramshur, Dennis Little, Eugene Green, Bo Powell, Ernest Powell; honoraries are Rodney Crawley, Rick Coulter, Edmon Ramshur and Jackie Simpson. Colonial Funeral Home of Columbia was in charge of arrangements.
