Husband of Lillie Bell Smith Ramshur
John Henry Ramshur, operator of a barber shop and café at Cross Roads, died Saturday morning at 9:30 a few minutes after being admitted to the Pearl River County Hospital suffering with a heart attack. Mr. Ramshur was 65 years of age.
Mr. Ramshur, a native of Marion county, has lived in the Cross Roads community since 1953. He was born in Marion County on April 8, 1892.
Funeral services were conducted at the Good Hope Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Jim Stewart, Baptist minister of Pine, La., the Rev. Elbert Boutwell of the Good Hope Church, and the Rev. E. R. Crain, Church of God minister of Covington, La., officiating. Masonic honors were conferred at the graveside by the Pine Masonic Lodge. Burial was in the Good Hope cemetery with Jenkins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Cecil Ard, Jason Bedwell, Alfred Love, Earl Freeman, Percy Crain and Bernard Crain.
Mr. Ramshur is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Smith Ramshur; six children, Mrs. Audrey Tress, Forrest, Mrs. Lannie Holifield, Pascagoula, Hardy Ramshur, Morton, Henry Ramshur, Cross Roads, Percy Lee Ramshur, Prentiss, Johnnie Ramshur, Pine, La.; one brother, Bud Ramshur of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Susie Williams of Columbia.
