U.S. Veteran Funeral services for Mr. N.G. Turnage, 87, will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, May 17, 2013 from the chapel of Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home. The Reverends Carl Dickens and Harold Gaddy will officiate. Mr. Turnage, a resident of Billdora Senior Care, died there on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.
He was born September 28, 1925 in Walthall County, Mississippi, the son of the late Marcus and Lucy Duncan Turnage. He was a self-employed dairyman, truck driver, and carpenter. Mr. Turnage was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Thomas, Louisiana and a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers: Q.D.; and W.O. Turnage and two sisters: Leola Hayes; and Dora Barber.
Mr. Turnage is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hilda Hughes Herring Turnage of Tylertown. One son, Jerry Herring and wife, Charline of Sandy Hook, Mississippi. Three daughters: Brenda West and husband, Bill of Collierville, Tennessee; Pam Fortenberry and husband, Bob of Conway, Arkansas; and Kay Reeves and husband, Stanley of Tylertown. One brother, Ralph Earl Turnage of Tylertown. One sister, Yvonne Thomas of Franklinton, Louisiana. Grandchildren: Clint Herring; Jeri Lynn Seal; Kirbi Herring; Elizabeth Ridell; Jodi Fortenberry; Luke Fortenberry; and Sissy Law. Great-grandchildren: Presley Seal; Annabella Seal; Gentry Seal; and Stella Law. One special nephew, Wayne Hilton. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Stanley Reeves; Bob Fortenberry; Bill West; Pete Barber; Wayne Hilton; and Clint Herring.
Burial will be in the Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery.
