Emmer was the daughter of Fred James Dillon and Lottie Smith.
The family was at the dinner table when a man that they knew came into the house to shoot and kill Jim Smith. Jim was an uncle to Emmer, he was a brother to her mother, Lottie. The man shot at Jim missing him, the shot hit Emmer. The shot was fatal for the 16 year old girl. This story was told to me by my sister-in-law, Helen Dillon Pittman who was the sister of Emmer.
