"Pat" Harrison was born August 29, 1881 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi to Robert Harrison and Myra Ann Patton. He was educated in Crystal Springs and graduated valedictorian of his class and received a football scholarship. He attended the University of Mississippi and Louisiana State University. He studied law and passed the bar exam in 1902. In 1906 he was elected district attorney and served until 1910. In 1911 he elected to the House of Representatives and served until 1919. In 1919 he was elected U S Senator. He served in this capacity until 1941. He was serving as President Pro Tempore of the Senate when he died on June 22, 1941 in Washington D. C. He married Mary Edwina McInnis and they had four children: Byron, Jr, Catherine, Mary and a child who died in infancy.
