Rev. John Steven "Steve" Hancock, 69 of Summit, MS, died July, 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born February 25, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to George S. and Delora LaGrone Hancock. He graduated from LaJolla High School, LaJolla California.
Rev. J.S. Hancock was a minister of the Gospel and evangelized for several years before moving to Jayess, MS in 1971 to pastor New Bethel Church. After 23 years of service there, Rev. Hancock relocated to McComb, MS where he founded Calvary Apostolic Church and pastored until his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 41 years, Dolores Jean Hancock. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Karen Andrews Hancock of Dallas, TX and Marshall and Gina Durre Hancock of Nashville, Tennessee; one daughter, Valarie S. Hancock of Nashville, TN; four grand daughters and one grandson.
